DESCRIPTION | This study-unit consolidates the concepts and techniques of efficient conducting of wind bands imparted in MSP1384. It furthers the knowledge about musical interpretation and contextualisation of scores. Studies in conducting gestures, expressions, and techniques related to irregular time signatures are deepened. Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims at providing students with the possibility to: - gain further insight into the art and techniques of rehearsing a band; - implement effective time-management skills applied to wind band rehearsals. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - give subjective interpretation to the musical score and communicate this interpretation effectively; - lead musicians to identify and interpret the nuances inherent to a musical score. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - demonstrate effective analytical and interpretative skills related to wind band repertoires; - express the intricate details of conducting irregular time-signatures; - demonstrate methods of effective rehearsal time-management when conducting a wind band or wind ensemble.
