DESCRIPTION | This study-unit expands on the technical and interpretative skills covered inYear 1. It aims at consolidating and furthering the technical and interpretative abilities of students whilst at the same time expose them to various musical styles, techniques and interpretative views. The study-unit will also help students accumulate and work on a varied repertoire of pieces from the different eras of Western music history. Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims to help students develop in-depth knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to percussion performance, with emphasis on fundamental percussion techniques. Learning Outcomes: Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to acquire: a) In-depth knowledge of percussion instruments and origins; b) recognition of the fundamental percussion techniques; c) knowledge of different music notations. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a) demonstrate a stronger technical and interpretative ability on tuned and untuned percussion instruments; b) perform advanced rudimental studies; c) establish a systematic and intensive approach to daily practice; d) enhance listening skills; e) show greater fluency in music reading.
