DEPARTMENT Nursing

DESCRIPTION This is the first of three study-units that will focus specifically on the students own personal and professional growth as a means to building skills that will help them gain insight into their values, attitudes and beliefs that shape them as unique individuals, who are in the process of becoming professional nurses. Furthermore, through this process, their self-awareness and identity acquisition will be enhanced, and will hopefully enable them to critically reflect on their behaviour, attitudes and ethical approach with self and others. By the end of the study unit, the students will be working towards creating and maintaining healthy practices that will aid lifelong professional wellbeing and growth.

The learning for this study-unit will take place over 5 workshops (each 6 hours long) where the students will work in small groups using their current knowledge and understanding of various professional values. Through this collaborative learning process, they will expand their knowledge and understanding of personal and professional development which will equip them with the ability to manage the ever changing field of professional practice.
