DESCRIPTION The study-unit gives students the opportunity to participate in additional performance training as it relates to one of the disciplines of theatre, dance, and music. In collaboration with the programme leader, students will identify an area of practice benefitting further training and skills transmission. These areas/skills might include: choreography, musicianship, physical approaches to performance, etc.

The study-unit can only be taken after consultation with the coordinating lecturer.

Study-Unit Aims:

The study-unit focuses on practical training in one of the areas of the performing arts, identified by the student in collaboration with the programme leader, and in which the student's overall formation would benefit. The main aim of the study-unit therefore is to consolidate the range of foundational skills of the student in view of further, more specialised training in other study-units.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Identify a practical area in his/her profile as a practitioner that requires further training and transmission of skills and (ii) the
- Devise, in consultation with the programme leader, a set of workshop and/or lectures from the range offered at the School of Performing Arts to facilitate the transmission of these skills.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Apply practical aspects of training as they relate to one of the disciplines from theatre, dance, and music
- Analyse his/her own learning process and articulate this in written form

Main Text/s and any supplementary readings:

- Reading List to be discussed between student and course courdinator depending on training identified. This discussion will take place during the tutorial.
