DESCRIPTION | The study-unit in Medical Cannabis Science is designed to introduce to students frameworks for the development, manufacture, analysis and distribution of cannabis for medical use. The context of regulation, evidence-based decision and policy making is upheld throughout the components of the study-unit. The study-unit is intended to facilitate an understanding of the pharmaceutical, analytical and regulatory considerations for cannabis and support a commitment to excellence towards cannabis for medical use. Study-Unit Aims: - To appraise quality, safety and effectiveness endpoints in the design, development, manufacture and analysis of medical cannabis products; Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Interpret pharmaceutical principles to development, manufacture, quality assurance and quality control of medical cannabis products; - Compare frameworks, policies and regulations related to cannabis for medical use within a global context. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Interpret regulatory strategies within the context of pharmaceutical quality risk management and impact of cannabinoid use; - Identify and compare important analytical parameters and techniques used for determination of different compounds in cannabis products Main Text/s and any supplementary readings: Main Texts: - Finn K.
