DESCRIPTION | The study-unit is designed to present principles of phamacoeconomic analyses, health technology appraisals for medical products and medicinal devices and challenges in pricing and access to medicinal products. The course focuses on insights into economics of medicinal products and medical devices from an industry, healthcare system and patient perspective. Areas within the study unit support appreciation of policy issues affecting the industry and the pharmaceutical and healthcare domains. Study-Unit Aims: - To apply pharmacoeconomic evaluation in a patient - centric approach to access to medicinal products. - To introduce models for outcomes evaluations. - To develop a comprehensive outlook of pricing of medicines and pharmaceutical policies. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - To interpret scientific information on medicinal products appraisals. - To associate factors that influence access to medicines and patient outcomes. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. Interpret data on consumption and outcomes; 2. Manage pharmacoeconomic predictions and control health systems budgets.
