DESCRIPTION | This study-unit deals with a ministry which is reflected upon and analysed both with a tutor as well as in writing. Hence, the student will be trained not only hands-on but also will be given the tools to undergo a proper research process on the areas chosen. The first part of the study-unit is field placement in which students are asked to choose two areas from the following and to engage in a reflective pastoral practice in a real life situation. The areas from which the student are to choose from include: - Catechetics and evangelisation - Pastoral planning - Family Ministry - Social and cultural ministry/diakonia - Liturgy - Pastoral Counseling/Spiritual direction - Youth ministry - Church Development. In the second part, the student will be trained in research methods so that the experience gained on site can be correctly analysed and academically written. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit aims at: 1. introducing the student to the practical side of pastoral work; 2. helping students to apply the fundamental knowledge gained in the lectures to real-life situations, and to seek to find practical solutions to the difficulties encountered; 3. learning research methods to be able to write academically. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. identify areas of pastoral work and seek to comprehend what is necessary to offer pastoral help within them; 2. identify areas where s/he as a pastoral worker needs to grow and develop; 3. elaborate on a plan to evaluate pastoral work in different contexts. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: 1. develop appropriate ministerial responses in particular experiential contexts, and plan accordingly; 2. conclude that different pastoral settings require different responses in intensity and skill; 3. acquire the skill of reflective ministry through experience, and through reflective ministry; 4. acquire academic and scientific ways of writing.
