DESCRIPTION | The Health Care Students will: - Be introduced to the concepts necessary for the evaluation of psychological assessments - Become familiarised with the tests commonly used, their critical evaluation, administration and interpretation - Be introduced to a critical reading of psychological reports - Be introduced to a critical analysis of psychological testing This is an introductory course and does not in any way equip students with the necessary tools to carry out any psychological testing with or without supervision. It is merely an introduction for the speech and language pathology professional to be able to read and understand psychological reports and test results in order to be able to address client needs within the context of language therapy. Students will: - Understand the validity and reliability of psychological tests - Understand different uses of psychological assessments - Be in a position to read and understand psychological reports and results Tentative Course Outline: 1. The Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale 4. Assessing Infants / Cognitive Assessments 5. The British Ability Scales 6. The Wechsler Scales 7. Assessing an Elderly Person 8. CARS/ADhD 9. Tests to Assess Literacy and Mathematics 10. The MMPI 11. The projective tests 12. The Rorschach Personality test: Draw a Person, house tree/Draw a family, Patte Noire 13.
