DESCRIPTION This study-unit focuses on neuropsychological management, rehabilitation and recovery in different contexts and settings. It explores the collaborative process of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in different neurorehabilitation settings. Emphasis is placed on how service provision can be enhanced to ensure that an individual's needs are being met in a holistic manner through effective communication and multidisciplinary team working. Furthermore, reference will be made to the most current research in order to inform practice and policy.

tudy-Unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to enable participants to develop a solid understanding of rehabilitative practice in various contexts and settings. In addition, the study-unit aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to critically select idiosyncratic interventions based on the individual's presentation. Furthermore, it will enable participants to understand organisational systems, polices and procedures the interventions used with adults that guide their management..

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Demonstrate an understanding of rehabilitative practice in various specialist settings;
- Demonstrate an understanding of rehabilitative practice in specialist settings;
- Demonstrate an understanding of how rehabilitation differs according to the cultural context (ie. Malta vs UK);
- Demonstrate an understanding of the most evidence-based interventions;
- Demonstrate the knowledge of which interventions are most appropriate for the different neuropsychological presentations.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Conduct the appropriate assessments and interventions in various rehabilitation settings and contexts;
- Adapt rehabilitative practice in foreign countries to the local context;
- Interpret, and communicate feedback following intervention to a variety of individuals;
- Communicate with other professionals who are involved in the individual's care;
- Work collaboratively with other professionals involved in the individual's care (such as employers);
- Apply these skills to a variety of contexts and settings.
