DESCRIPTION | The aim of this study-unit is to acquaint first-year undergraduates with the sociological research process in general, and with the research profile of sociology post-graduates in particular. Students will attend the Sociology Department post-graduate research seminars where they will be specifically tasked to focus on the research designs presented, and to present their commentary on these in the form of a reflective portfolio. The study-unit will commence with an introductory lecture on reflective writing skills serviced by the Centre for English Language Proficiency. Assessment will be based on the students reflective portfolio and concluding comments on potential application to their own future research. | ||||||||
