DESCRIPTION | Students taking this study-unit will be assigned a number of topics selected from the ones which follow according to the needs of the student: - Regression Estimators; - Two-Phase Sampling; - Two-Stage Sampling; - Sources of Errors in Surveys. Study-unit Aims: Building up on knowledge acquired in the unit SOR2250 covered in the undergraduate course, this unit aims to provide students with a more comprehensive knowledge of more advanced sampling strategies, of the role of auxiliary information for improving the precision of the estimates and of ways to deal with sources of error in surveys. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a) handle the main theoretical results involved in the list of topics selected; b) have a clear idea of how to use the theory studied in realistic applications. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a) be able to use the appropriate sampling designs in particular contexts; b) be able to solve practical problems.
