DESCRIPTION | En esta asignatura se estudiarán las principales etapas, movimientos, autores y obras de la literatura hispanoamericana colonial. Panorama de la América colonial y su literatura. Historiografía de Indias. Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca y los Naufragios. El Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. La épica hispanoamericana: Ercilla y La Araucana. La lírica en el periodo colonial: Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. This unit will study the main periods, movements, authors and works of colonial Latin American literature. Panorama of Colonial America and its literature. Historiography of the Indies. Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca and los Naufragios. The Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. The Latin American epic: Ercilla and La Araucana. The lyric in the colonial period: Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. Study-unit Aims: - Familiarizar a los estudiantes con las principales etapas, movimientos, autores y obras de la literatura hispanoamericana colonial. - Acercar a los estudiantes a la lectura directa de textos literarios representativos de cada etapa, movimiento y autor. - Proporcionar a los estudiantes los recursos y técnicas necesarios para efectuar un comentario de un texto literario del que puedan extraer las características generales estudiadas en la etapa correspondiente. - To familiarize students with the main periods, movements, authors and works of colonial Latin American literature. - Engage students in the direct reading of literary texts representative of each stage, movement and author. - Give students the resources and skills required to perform a review of a literary text and extract from it the general features discussed in the corresponding period. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - identificar y describir las principales etapas, movimientos, autores y obras de la literatura hispanoamericana colonial a través de una serie de textos representativos; - analizar textos literarios a partir de las características que conforman cada una de las etapas literarias estudiadas; - comparar las diferentes tendencias entre épocas y escritores a partir de ejemplos concretos de textos literarios. - Identify and describe the main periods, movements, authors and works of colonial Latin American literature through a series of representative texts; - Analyze literary texts on the basis of the characteristics of each of the literary periods studied; - Compare the different trends between periods and writers from concrete examples of literary texts. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - analizar e interpretar un texto relacionándolo con una etapa o autor determinados; - identificar la procedencia y autoría de una determinada selección de textos literarios de la época estudiada; - evaluar la calidad literaria de diversos ejemplos de textos literarios de la época estudiada. - Analyze and interpret a text associated with a certain period or author; - Identify the provenance and authorship of a specified range of literary texts of the period studied; - Assess the literary quality of various examples of literary texts of the period studied.
