DESCRIPTION Throughout this study-unit, student-teachers will be invited to consolidate concepts and knowledge taught in Retail. Then they would have the opportunity to reflect on how to transform such knowledge into appropriate pedagogical content knowledge, employing differentiated teaching and pedagogical approaches conducive to effective learning of the subject.

Study-Unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to:

- Propose teaching approaches that can be incorporated into learning plans to be used in differentiated lessons aimed at involving all students irrespective of their learning patterns and abilities;
- Equip student-teachers with the necessary skills enabling pacing of content, lesson planning and resource preparation required to teach Retail topics in mixed-ability settings;
- Provide a wide range of skills to teach, support and assess students;
- Enhance a range of skills to devise creative educational activities and resources;
- Sensitize student-teachers on a number of contemporary issues relating to Retail.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Recognise initiatives which present opportunities for learning Retail;
- Propose learning events according to the characteristics and needs of learners;
- Demonstrate that the nature of the subject impinges upon the nature of the learning events;
- Develop strategies which link the theoretical knowledge of the subject to real life situations, thus ensuring that learners envisage the relevance of the subject;
- Recognise the organisations which can be approached or mentioned to their learners which may offer educational experiences and be of help to them in their potential entrepreneurial endeavours;
- Recognise the various tools available for assessing Retail students.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Devise meaningful learning events for Retail;
- Create good quality educational resources;
- Employ and adapt community events/resources for educational purposes;
- Devise good quality assessment tools specific to Retail;
- Prepare feedback for learners and their parents/guardians in a systematic manner;
- Envisage opportunities within the relevant areas where values can be imparted;
- Formulate strategies to support learners.
