DESCRIPTION This study-unit seeks to assist students in the final year of the course to attain a comprehensive and integrated approach to Philosophy. Drawing on the material covered in the individual study-units throughout the years of the course, students will be able to see the interconnections existing among the various spheres of the subject, and to appreciate the diversity of approaches to the main philosophical problems.

Study-unit Aims:

By the end of this study-unit, students should be able to have obtained a more comprehensive understanding of philosophy and of the interrelationships that exist between its different parts.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Explain the relationship between philosophical and theological reflection;
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the contribution of the more important thinkers on the subject.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Communicate philosophically-based responses on religious matters;
- Communicate and adapt the Christian message according to the philosophical and social context;
- Express how their beliefs, values, faith and culture shape their actions and attitudes;
- Critically analyze different views concerning philosophical issues;
- Respond to life queries related to philosophy;
- Acknowledge the inter-relationship between philosophical and human development; endorse the richness afforded by multiple perspectives in society;
- Value personal ongoing formation;
- Express how values, beliefs and culture shape actions and attitudes reflect philosophically on life issues;
- Articulate the growth and integration of one’s intellectual and social self.
