DESCRIPTION This study-unit seeks to assist students in the final year of their course to attain a comprehensive and integrated approach to Moral theology. During the different sessions, the students are helped to appreciate the interrelationships between the different areas of moral theology, and the importance of certain basic principles that inform our understanding of the whole of moral theology.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of moral theology and to see the interrelationships that exist between its different parts.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Describe the relationship between philosophical and theological reflection, spiritual growth, and witnessing to faith;
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the contribution of the more important thinkers on the subject;
- Investigate the interplay between faith, reason and revelation;
- Communicate theologically- and philosophically-based responses on the Bible and the Teachings of the Church;
- Articulate how personal belief system interconnects with various human, individual and familial situations, cultural contexts, and faith traditions;
- Express how their beliefs, values, faith and culture shape their actions and attitudes;
- Examine and question one’s own spiritual life;
- Engage in theological reflection on ecclesial action, and interprets the context within which ecclesial action takes place;
- Respond to queries related to faith and belief;
- Reflect theologically on contemporary issues and dialogue with contemporary society on various issues;
- Articulate the growth and integration of one’s intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual self.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Discuss theological responses based on the Bible and the teachings of the Church concerning everyday behaviors and witnessing;
- Present and adapt the Christian message according to the social context;
- Show how their beliefs, values, faith and culture shape their actions and attitudes;
- Examine and question one's own spiritual life;
- Express how beliefs, values, faith and culture shape actions and attitudes.
