DESCRIPTION This study-unit concerns a more complex visual understanding of forms (natural, manmade,human) as interchangeable structures in space. Students will be encouraged to develop new ways of looking at the subject, maintain a constant drawing practice and evaluate the way they plan their drawing compositions and concepts within a contemporary artistic, architectural and design context.

Study-Unit Aims:

- Develop confidence in the practice of drawing from life;
- Enhance perceptual skills through observational training;
- Develop critical approaches in the interpretation of a subject in space through drawing.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Visually understand and illustrate basic proportions and structural elements characteristic of a subject;
- Develop interpretation methods of a subject that are based on critical observational skill.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Apply appropriate drawing methods to create effective visual interpretations of a concept;
- Use drawing as a tool to develop visual concepts and ideas in a contemporary artistic, architectural and design context.
