| DESCRIPTION | Target students: Open to students who are involved in Malta University Debating Union (MUDU) throughout the year. Guideline for Participation: In order to participate in this Unit, students must: Attend a pre-agreed number of hours of the ‘Designated Main MUDU Initiatives’, where said initiatives may include any of the following: - Conferences with an element of debating or discussion - Stand-alone Debates - Stand-alone Discussions - Any Training Session in the art and style of debate and discussion organised by MUDU - Participation in any other activity organised by MUDU not already mentioned above Report Writing: Students will need to download the MUDU: Malta University Debating Union Series form from https://www.um.edu.mt/media/um/docs/study/degreeplus/DGP0987-MUDUDeclarationForm.pdf, fill it in with the relevant information, get the form signed by Dr Carmen Mangion, Deputy Registrar, and send the signed form by email to degreeplus@um.edu.mt or hand the form in to the DegreePlus Office by the end of May. Learning Outcomes: By participating in this programme students will: - Get recognised for their work with MUDU; - Enhance essential character skills such as organisational and social skills; - Obtain an understanding of how to develop, structure and present compelling arguments; - Improve their critical thinking, public speaking and build confidence/learn to deliver argumentation effectively as well as develop persuasive arguments; - Learn about different perspectives relating to several topics of national and/or international interest from experts and other students. |
