DESCRIPTION | This unit teaches executives and leaders from different branches to successfully transform an industrial business into an Industry 4.0 driven and fully integrated enterprise, resulting in new business value and new revenue streams. The unit includes: - What is Industry 4.0 - What does Industry 4.0 look like in the real world - How Industry 4.0 generates new business value, opens new revenue streams, and ensures a lasting competitive edge - What challenges the transition to Industry 4.0 typically encounters, and how to overcome them - A suggested transformation approach, resulting in a self-sustaining journey to Industry 4.0. Detailed subjects include: - Industry 4.0 principles, concepts & challenges - Industry 4.0 and the organization - Industry 4.0 in the supply chain and its potential value - Case-studies & examples - Investment strategy and ROI - Dealing with green-field & brown-field environments, and legacy systems - Big Data, (I)IoT, data acquisition, data storage, data management, and data-driven value generation - The Concepts and potential Business Value of block-chain, additive manufacturing (3D printing), simulation & digital twins, robotics & cobotics, RPA, Augmented reality & Virtual Reality, Remote Monitoring & Control, Optimization, Flexibility, Digital Performance management, Predictive & Prescriptive Maintenance, Digital Quality Management - Cyber Security & Industry 4.0 - Management of Technology & change - Cloud & solution architecture - Available products, tools, solutions, and vendors. Study-Unit Aims: The aim of this unit is to enable executives and leaders to understand and recognize the potential of Industry 4.0, and lead their business on a successful transformation to Industry 4.0. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Describe what Industry 4.0 is, what it involves, what it drives, and what it looks like in the real world; - Know where and how business value can be generated with Industry 4.0 principles; - Demonstrate an understanding of the techniques, principles and technology on a functional level; - Recognize and address the many challenges on the journey to Industry 4.0. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Recognize Industry 4.0's potential and business value in the industrial environment; - Set an company wide Industry 4.0 vision and successfully lead a business to this lasting future while improving the competitive edge and generate business value on the journey itself; - Overcome challenges on the Journey to Industry 4.0; - Ask the right questions to vendors, engineers and developers in relation to Industry 4.0.
