In November 2023, ten million people celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) through 40,000 different events in over 180 countries around the world. With an international network of 20,000 partners, events during the annual GEW initiative are designed to stimulate, inspire and encourage entrepreneurial activities through different stakeholder groups. These events aim to promote originality, creativity and ingenuity through local and global activities. The Edward de Bono Institute has proudly been the official National Host for this event in Malta since its inception in 2008, and collaborates each year with various partner organisations to put together exciting programmes of activities to join this global celebration of entrepreneurship.

No Fit

No Fit Book Launch
Tuesday 7th Nov, 17.00-18.30, The Edward de Bono Institute, 63, Triq l-Esperanto, Msida.

Global award-winning author Dr Nico de Klerk was interviewed by Prof Leonie Baldacchino about his extraordinary 'Long Walk for the Entrepreneurial Mindset', which is featured in his book 'No Fit'.

As a white man walking solo across South Africa for 1,700 miles (2,750 km), social innovator Nico de Klerk’s unannounced arrival at more than 100 townships (segregated areas of Black population post-Apartheid) with no pre-arrangements could be seen as highly risky behavior. Why did he do it?

Through delivering workshops on the entrepreneurship mindset to nearly 50,000 students and the impoverished—while conducting research about the South African strategy to address poverty, unemployment, and inequality—Nico’s journey transcended that of a long walk. Blending socioeconomics, neuroscience, and spirituality, while revealing what it means to be human on this planet, Nico’s work was awarded the Best Global Innovative Project for 2018 by Life Learning Academia with the Edward de Bono Reference Award.

Zaar

ZAAR / FPEI Crowdfunding Clinic
Tuesday 7th Nov, 19.00-20.00

Raising funds is a notoriously difficult challenge for entrepreneurs and innovators. Therefore, alternative sources of finance such as reward-based crowdfunding (where small contributions are collected from a large number of persons in return for a reward during a particular timeframe) are becoming increasingly popular.

In this Crowdfunding Webinar, the Manager of Malta's Foundation for the Promotion of Entrepreneurial Initiatives (FPEI) and ZAAR Crowdfunding Platform, Ms Giselle Borg Olivier, spoke about the benefits and opportunities of running a crowdfunding campaign; the different types of crowdfunding that exist; how it works and what one needs to do to run a campaign.

This webinar was video recorded and is available on YouTube at this link.

MBA Business Concept Pitching Event
Monday 20th Nov, 17.30-20.30

Project deliverables of the elective programme required the students to engage in an extended feasibility study to assess the potential of their business ideas, as a prelude to potentially pursuing the concept and entrepreneurial opportunity further.

This event was organised by Dr Nathaniel Massa, Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta' Department of Management, in collaboration with The Edward de Bono Institute, and was reserved for Executive MBA students.
