The Department of Technology and Entrepreneurship Education (TEE) seeks to promote the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become technologically literate, competent, creative and enterprising 21st century citizens. The department is committed to excellence in forming teachers in the areas of Computing, Business Education (Accounting, Economics and Business Studies), Retailing, Media Literacy, Technical Design and Technology, and the research of these areas within the educational sphere.
TEE’s mission is:
- to provide quality initial teacher education for prospective teachers of Computing, Business Education, Retailing, Education Media Literacy, and Technical Design and Technology;
- to support practising teachers in these and other related curricular areas through ongoing professional development initiatives to strengthen the provisions in Computing Education, Business Education, Retailing, Media Literacy, Entrepreneurship Education, and Technical Design and Technology Education in the Maltese educational system; and
- to initiate and/or collaborate in outreach activities/research in these areas.
Courses offered by the Department
B.Sc. (Hons.) in Technical Design and Technology
This course is intended for students with a flair for design and an initiative for design entrepreneurship and innovation. It provides a broad entry into employments that ‘do’ technology, ‘co-ordinate’ technology, or ‘communicate’ technology. It is relevant for students who wish to become teachers of the curricular subjects of Technical Design and Technology, Graphical Communication or vocational Engineering Technology.
