The overall aim of the project is to develop a STEAM roadmap for science education in Horizon Europe, i.e. a plan of action that will provide guidance to EU's key funding programme for research and innovation on how to encourage more interest in STEM through the use of artistic approaches, involving creative thinking and applied arts (the “A” in ‘STEAM’).
The consortium aims to provide Europe with this roadmap, through:
The originality of Road-STEAMer resides in its overall approach to the development of the STEAM roadmap that will triangulate the knowledge gained from the stakeholder engagement and the analysis of the STEAM practices with the knowledge produced from the analysis of the current educational policies, contexts and frameworks.

Road-STEAMer's studies conducted in Malta
One of the Road-STEAMer partners, University of Malta, continues its work in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Faculty of Education through the Science Communication Office under the direction of Dr Edward Duca. This team carries out activities and research in science communication and education, bringing together STEM professionals, artists, educators, researchers, design thinkers and citizens.
It organises events and workshops on co-creative, co-produced and co-implemented science communication and nature-based solutions, community-led participation, innovative-creative science communication approaches, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) development approaches in science communication and education.
Road-STEAMer at the Ecsite conference
The Ecsite Conference is a global meeting of science engagement professionals from over 50 countries who join together to share their expertise, learn from one another and make valuable professional connections.
Road-STEAMer will first meet its partners for the project meeting in Malta just before the Ecsite Conference. Afterwards, Road-STEAMer will feature in the Project Showcase, the Ecsite Booth and workshops delivered by the project’s partners in Malta. For info, check the conference program.
