The M.Sc. in Building Services Engineering is a postgraduate taught programme aimed at developing a specialised skill set that enables engineers to innovate and develop sustainable techniques to transmit back to the building industry.
Standards review and application, underpinning science, research and practical group work projects permeate through the programme required to develop such a skill set.
The programme culminates with a final year project brief that enables the candidates to utilise the skill set acquired through the taught and practical sessions for a specific application.
This course may be followed on a part-time evening basis. The course spans over a period of three years. The delivery of this programme is varied, ranging from practical sessions to guest lectures by experts in their field asked to relate their technical expertise and experience to the upcoming generation of building services engineers.
This course covers several topics within a wide range of areas such as Energy Conversion Processes in both Electrical and Thermofluids Systems, Fire and Public Health Engineering, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building Management and Internet of Things (IoT), Sustainability, Certification Methods and Engineering Management. In the year of the course, all students carry out a project in Building Services Engineering.
