The Institute for Public Services (IPS) plays a key role in people management and development within the Public Service of Malta. We collaborate with IPS on the organisation of various courses related to public management, including the BA (Hons) in Public Management, the BA (Hons) in Public Sector Accounting and the MBA in Public Management.
The House of Representatives, the National Audit Office, the Commissioner's Office for Standards in Public Life, the Office of the Ombudsman and the various regulatory authorities are key stakeholders in governance affairs and policy-making in Malta. They are the guardians of good governance and act as change catalysts through scrutiny, evidence-based recommendations and expert advice. As a Department, we engage with them in knowledge sharing, research endeavours and policy innovations.
Servizzi Ewropej f'Malta (SEM) keeps the public informed about the latest developments in EU strategies, policies, legislation and funding opportunities. SEM is a key partner with the Department of Public Policy, in advertising European-based job vacancies, engaging EU experts to address our students, offering work-placements in EU related environments, coordinating study visits in EU institutions and assisting in research, dissertations and publications.
The Private Industry is another crucial partner with whom we collaborate to organise guest speakers' events and work placement, so our students can gain grounded experience in the private enterprise. Public affairs management is a partner to commerce, enterprise, the economy, markets and financial institutions.
Trade unions, employers' associations, professional chambers and civil society movements influence the corridors of power and mobilise public opinion. The Department keeps abreast of their influence strategies, lobbying and negotiation to shape public policy. We regularly reach out to the social partners and NGOs to share their viewpoints, concerns and contributions with our academics and student community.
Traditional and online media platforms, including the University's own radio station - Campus FM - are key partners to help our Department in its mission to democratise political science and enhance political literacy among the general public. We produce live political talk shows and audio/visual documentaries about the role politics play in society, including the world of art, literature, cinema and the visual arts.
