This multidisciplinary course is aimed at students having either a degree related to ICT or healthcare.
Digital health is a broad concept that encompasses the use of computing platforms, network technologies, software, and sensors for healthcare purposes. These technologies have numerous applications in healthcare ranging from general wellness to the development of medical devices and patient management systems.
This MSc is designed to generate interdisciplinary knowledge and skills needed to drive innovation in the rapidly-evolving fusion of health and technology. The programme of studies is divided into two streams; Healthcare and ICT. The healthcare stream focuses on enabling the students to develop a basic understanding of the design of IT systems. On the other hand, the ICT stream will be covering subjects related to the organisation of healthcare systems. During the course, the students from both streams will also have the opportunity to work together to develop digital health technologies aimed at tackling specific healthcare challenges.
Upon completing the course, the students will have the opportunity to either embark in lucrative career opportunities and career growth paths within the healthcare industry, academia, or other Research and Development establishments. Career opportunities include healthcare project manager, health data manager, consultant in health/healthcare systems, data analyst, health systems and service designer, application and systems developer, informatics manager, UX designers, clinical information manager, and quality assurance manager.
The Master of Science in Digital Health will also enable healthcare professionals to improve the use of digital health technologies in clinical practice, allowing them to provide a more efficient service. Essentially, any role within health organisations or health tech companies where digital health expertise is required.
