We work with UM academics and collaborate with colleagues to provide print and online resources that support the teaching and research programmes at UM. We are responsible for:
Academic members of staff are encouraged to recommend publications by submitting the book suggestion form [Intranet] [Staff]. Ordered items can be traced on the Library online catalogue and identified through their 'In process' item status until they are catalogued and tagged as 'Item in place'. Each new work is labelled and stamped as a Library property item. Books are also equipped with security tags before being passed on to the Cataloguing Department.
The University of Malta Library recognises that gifts and donations provide a valuable contribution to the Library’s collection, and thus, the Acquisitions Department also accepts donations by academic staff and the general public.
Gifted material is accepted, with the understanding that it supports the curriculum and the research needs of the University’s community. The Library reserves the right to add gifted material to the collection at its discretion, and dispose of any material which does not meet standards of selection. Find our more about our Gifts and Donations Policy.
Anyone wishing to donate material to the University’s general collection, is encouraged to submit the Donations form. Following the form submission, the Acquisitions team will evaluate the relevance of the donated material, and once accepted, donations will be added to Library’s collection.
The Acquisitions Department is also responsible for managing the preparation, collection and uploading of Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) across all University's Faculties, Institutes, Centres and Schools. More info can be found here.
