Abstract

The main aim of this journal is explained within the introduction, mainly that of reporting the medical activities from Malta, especially original contributions from the Maltese medical profession. Furthermore, a brief historical overview of the Maltese medical importance since the Knights of St. John, and throughout World War I and II is provided, focusing particularly on St. Luke`s Hospital Malta. “St. Luke`s” is staffed almost completely by graduates of the Royal University of Malta, and almost every member has pursued studies in Great Britain, the British Colleges of medicine, surgery, obstetrics and pathology. A remarkable section within the journal refers to a scientific publications list by graduates of the Maltese medical and dental schools since 1961. Of significant importance is the medical news section, as well as “Our Colleagues Abroad” section, the latter providing information regarding Maltese medical physicians living and working overseas. Noteworthy also are some advertisements promoting the names of certain pharmaceuticals at that time.
