Abstract: In a globalized technological world, the trend is to change every aspect of our lives to digital. Such was the mind-set that brought about the introduction of electronic identity (e-ID) in Malta – but despite having been in place for the last decade or so, it has remained largely unused by the man in the street. This Final Year Project analyses the current Maltese e-ID Management System, and identifies the main reasons for its lack of usage. From the prototype developed to address these issues, results showed that the average Maltese citizen would be willing to make use of such a system for as long as it were user-friendly and processes used were to be significantly simplified.
