Abstract: | The article focuses on university collaboration between Norway and countries in the global South. It describes Norway’s policies and practices and discusses in particular three programmes in higher education supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). Discussing education aid from a postcolonial perspective, the article critiques the current global architecture of education - the hegemonic role of a Western educational discourse- in North-South university collaboration. For comparative purposes, the policies of Cuba are briefly analyzed, as another selected country which has a huge portfolio in university collaboration with countries in the global South. |
