Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to describe the most important factors that affect the size of the Maltese labour force and to quantify the impact of these factors by means of a simple econometric model. The labour force as defined here is made up of all those persons who are gainfully employed, or who are actively seeking employment and officially registered as such.
