Abstract: Normativa is a textile installation that seeks to challenge and manipulate the suppressed elements of the female body. This study outlines and describes the main components of sexual discrimination while analysing the emergence of the feminist art movement through a multimedia approach. This dissertation focuses on the development of the personal exhibition that combines the traditional techniques of machine sewing and hand embroidery with contemporary practices. Through the implementation of focus groups, personal insights and opinions in relation to the subject matter have been identified, offering a better understanding of how the human body is socially looked upon. Normativa ultimately aims to connect the viewer with the invisible experience of gender discrimination and sexual objectification. This project serves as a starting point to those who wish to raise awareness and encourage complete freedom for both men and women.
