Abstract: | This paper investigates the thermal performance of refurbished historic buildings which typically experience the external restoration of the fabric, re-planning for re-use and an interior design job as part of an overall rehabilitation exercise. Controlled internal alterations include the addition of an intermediate floor, scooping out walls and addition of an insulated indoor fabric and partitioning to contain a modern new use to the same edifice. This study focuses on the effects of scooping out an internal skin on the thermal environment. |
