Analyzing the facility and operations management of the Ta’ Qali national football complex

Abstract

The research study set out to analyse and investigate the different operations and facility management aspects used by the Malta Football Association in preparation for football games at the Ta’ Qali National Football Complex. The main research objectives were to analyse the respective Organisational Management, Risk Management and Performance Management. The participants that took part in the research study were all employees or officials of the Malta Football Association. But they were not limited to the same strata of management as their positions varied across different departments within the organisation. The data was collected via seven structured interviews which were specifically developed for the study by the researcher and participants responses were transcribed verbatim. The participants’ responses were analysed using the quote-research method. The findings suggest that the facility appears to have good working practices as far as the facility and operations management are concerned. In addition, the results shed light on what is being done to ensure that the facility operates smoothly with regards to the various preparations carried out during the week in anticipation for match days. The research concluded that all the participants’ efforts are geared towards ensuring smooth operations and not be subject to negative developments which could disrupt the operations. The study illustrates, however that there are certain shortcomings with regards to training and communication.
