Issue Date: | 2015 |
Abstract: | This study deals with many of the things which in Gozo have a connection with football, and how they can leave their impact on the Gozitan tourism industry. People with different roles in football have taken part and shared their views on current issues involving Gozitan football and tourism. The view is that Gozo needs to improve its facilities so that professional foreign teams may be attracted for training camps or friendlies. Improving facilities will also improve Gozo‟s chances of hosting the VIVA World Cup, the Regions Cup or even bigger events. Many basic factors to attract international football are already there, but the GFA needs to work on the island‟s main stadium, the Gozo Stadium to upgrade it to UEFA or FIFA standard. To gain a competitive advantage when it comes to attracting football personalities, or football tourism, Gozo needs to be branded better. |
