Abstract: Embarking on a dire attempt to bring information technology into the realm of local planning, one definitely agrees that a precise direction should be given to the Local Planning Unit towards producing a better local plan. This dissertation also gives the general definition of what information technology and a local plan are. Then sets on to classify the type of system in the Local Planning Unit as a planning and decision system. Through this research an implementation plan for the unit is applied, having also looked at past experience in local planning, that is, the Marsaxlokk Bay Local Plan.
