Citation: | Baldacchino, N. (2006). A study of the skills of new recruits and retiring employees in comparison with Water Services Corporation objectives (Diploma long essay). |
Abstract: | This Long Essay analyzes the skill losses of employees that were detailed from the Civil service to the Water Services Corporation, and opted to leave the same organization for different reasons and circumstances. In the analyses a comparison is studied between employee skills of those detailed to those directly employed by the Corporation. The study focuses on the amount and percentages of employee skill ' losses ' the organization experienced between the year 2000 and 2003, and how the Water Services Corporation tackled the situation by externally recruiting employees directly. The objectives of my writings are to analyze why after 1999 employee skill losses from those detailed from the civil service are rising year by year, and if succession planning and career development was the key issue by not retaining valued employee skills from opting to resign. In the conclusion part one can relate this shift with factors that may have affected this downward trend and the relations between the variables. |
