How can student's career prospects be enhanced through the career advisers working closely with parents?

Abstract

This long essay analyses the role that the parents have in the career planning decisions of their children. The study indicates the possibilities and opportunities for parents working with Career advisers so that the students will be able to make informed career choices. Through the literature review, the study focuses on the importance of the parents anJ also focuses on the importance of family dynamics and the psychological influences that impact on the behaviour of both parents and their children. The study also gives a general overview of online resources through booklets from other countries. By means of the literature review and the information and analysis gathered through the resources from other countries, a booklet was inspired and specially conceived for Maltese parents. The booklet was drafted in English and piloted through four parents. The feedback gathered was then examined and the final booklet printed. The final versions was also translated and printed into Maltese.
