Abstract: Magda Adly is a leading social activist in Egypt. A medical doctor by profession , she has suffered imprisonment for her political activities and continues to work for an NGO deeply involved in the struggle for rehabilitation of victims of violence. In this interview , she dwells at length on her political struggles over the years , her experience of incarceration , prospects for the democratization of Egyptian society and the emergence of civil society.
