Abstract: This chapter aims to present and discuss some parallel examples between Maltese folk music – għana – and other Mediterranean musical genres of the oral tradition. Considering the purpose of this publication, the aim here is not to seek historical processes of assimilation or convergence, but to bring forth and discuss parallel existing practices of music-making and forms of orally transmitted music in the Mediterranean akin to għana.
