Abstract: In line with the increasing practice of compiling and analysing hospital admissions and mortality reports, the Spedale Maggiore della Sacra Religione ed Ordine Militare de SS. Maurizio e Lazzaro in Turin published a series of reports covering the period 1821-1844. These reports provide important information relating to the workings of the hospital allowing for better planning and resource distribution, and also providing a nosological picture of the patterns of disease in the population served by the institution.
