Abstract: The project involved a brief study in the use of solid adsorbents (XAD-2 resin) for the extraction of drugs from liquids such as body fluids. Model drugs namely Amitriptyline (basic) and Diazepam (neutral) were utilized. The use of solid adsorbents were found to be more efficient than solvent extraction showing better recovery. The project also involved the standardization of T.L.C. as a method of drug separation and partial quantitation.
