Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between fashion and textile education and young Maltese adults to provide evidence-based research. The results from this dissertation could potentially lead to improvements in the fashion education system in Malta, in particular at tertiary level. Advertisements from well-known brands, self-identity, and uniqueness influence fashion choices globally (Cham et al., 2018). Through this research, I strive to determine if this is so within young Maltese adults and if fashion and textile education impact such choices. I used qualitative research methods: focus groups and in-depth interviews with a total of ten participants. This study demonstrates any difference between two sets of participants; one group who finished a fashion-related degree (BSc Home Economics specialising in textiles fashion and interiors) and the other who possess a degree in any other field. Each group had five participants, and from the groups, I choose candidates for the in-depth interviews. Through thematic analysis, it was evident that fashion graduates did propose better knowledge and understanding within fashion and textiles; however, no specific ethical fashion or style improvement practices were identified as part of this research. Thus, the primary significance between fashion and general graduates was the improved understanding and use of fashion and textile-related terminologies.
