Abstract: We have been studying anthropogenic emissions in the Central Mediterranean over the last 18 years with a major instrument upgrade 3 years ago. We conclude that the major sources of emissions are shipping, volcanic plumes from Etna as well as local emissions from cities in the Mediterranean basin. We present a summary of our methods and results in this paper.
