Abstract: Pluralistic approaches refer to inclusive language learning and cultural awareness strategies that commit learners to considering their full linguistic and cultural repertoires in language learning activities. This chapter illustrates how a pluralistic pedagogy based on the FREPA (Candelier et al., 2012a) can enhance the language knowledge, attitudes and skills of learners of Maltese as an additional language. A collaborative initiative was undertaken by a school-based teacher and a university researcher! teacher educator, who collaborated to implement a pluralistic pedagogy (Conteh & Meier, 2014) in a class consisting of 17 immigrant students at a state school in Malta.
