Abstract: History will most likely treat Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna more kindly than local contemporary figures. Although disguised or undisguised contempt through caricatures and memes may linger for a little while, truth be told he stands out as a brilliant mind and a kind soul who rises to every occasion in defence of truth and authenticity. His is a strong voice in favour of life and of the voiceless. Performing prophetic gestures to put a humane message across gradually became his hallmark. One fine example is the ‘good neighbourhood dinner’ to foster tolerance and inclusion. Many a time, he encourages a sense of duty and basic civics. Archbishop Scicluna may often be viewed as all smiles, characteristic of his bubbly personality; nevertheless, the power of the word is equally evident in his leadership and guidance in the public square. Gentleness takes courage and he never misses a single opportunity to stand up, speak, and be counted.
