Conservation and restoration, which Brandi defines as «the methodological moment in which the work of art is recognised as such», are the result of a complex balance. The historical, socio-cultural, religious and geographical context, together with its traditions, and how the work of art is perceived have a significant impact on the philosophical and methodological approach and development of conservation.
