Abstract: Background: Effective surveillance is essential to contain antibiotic (AB) resistance. In Malta, community AB consumption data at prescription-level are unavailable. Without ongoing surveillance it is challenging to devise strategies tailored towards specific local needs and measure the impact of an AB prescribing intervention in such a community.
