Vesselina Troeva and planning education at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia

Abstract

Vesselina Troeva is a pioneer of urban planning in Bulgaria. The objective of this paper is to concisely map out her main contribution to urban planning education at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, Sofia, which includes the setting up of the Programme in Urbanism and ensuring that its graduates enjoyed the official status of a profession. A biographical note inclusive of her professional and academic affiliations is also included, together with a concise reference to her prolific urban and environmental consultancy and research work. It concludes with a discussion of her approach to urban planning education and practice.
