Abstract: Blenkharn has taken umbrage at the suggestion that an evidence-based, Cochrane approach should be applied to clinical waste classification and management. He contends that all ‘soft’ wastes such as used dressings, swabs, etc, which comprise around 90% of healthcare waste should be deemed as hazardous, and has even gone as far as recommending ultra-high temperature treatment to ‘guarantee’ their safe disposal.
