Abstract: | The book chapter in the proceedings of the Academic Consultation (2016) of Societas Oecumenica focuses on the contribution of the renowned French patristic scholar Adalbert Hamman (1910-2000). Through his patristic studies, he successfully forged a wide spectrum of ecumenical contacts and endeavours leading to dialogue. Since the Church Fathers are part of the patrimony of the Christian Tradition, Hamman worked upon the common ground to which all Churches subscribe. The article starts by contextualising Hamman and his ecumenical predispositions which later bore fruit when he proposed the study of the Church Fathers to Christians from all Churches, and their perennial relevance to the daily orthopraxis of the baptised, |
