Abstract: | The blockchain is... so 2018. ICOs are dead and blockchain universities are still-born. People who made a mint from blockchain conferences will now turn to AI like sunflowers. Those institutions and nation states experimenting with digital credentials notarised on the public bitcoin blockchain are just playing with fire. It’s only a matter of time before Facebook enters the blockchain identity space and then it’s ‘game over’ for any notion of decentralisation. If you need to appear to embrace digital credentials, just use an orthodox database and focus on the knitting. Go manage your academic institution and be grateful you still have students buying into credentials they can frame on a wall. |
